Orthodontics
I am not confident about my smile. My teeth are not aligned properly
One of the most common scenarios presented in a dental practice is the malocclusion or the malalignment of teeth. Primarily the treatment plan is favored toward Orthodontics which is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malposition teeth and jaws. It can also focus on modifying facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome, and neck, shoulder and back pain.
In Kovalam Multispecialty dental center, we provide you with both removable and fixed appliance therapy. Fixed appliances are probably the most common type of orthodontic appliances in use today. They consist of small brackets that are attached to the front surface of the teeth with a dental adhesive. The brackets are then connected with a thin wire which is often held in place with elastic (sometimes colored) loops. There are various types of fixed appliance systems available ranging from metal brackets to clear (aesthetically pleasing) brackets. They enable the orthodontist to accurately move the teeth into the desired position. The orthodontist has more control over the position of the teeth with fixed appliances than can be achieved with removable appliances or removable aligners.
